Well, this has certainly been a wild few weeks, huh? Political signs. Political opinions. Politics straining relationships. Safe to say, we’re all tired of it all!
Whether your candidate won, or lost, I been saddened to see how people have been treating one another.
It is OK to have a differing opinion from your spouse, your family, and your friends. What is NOT OK is treating another person with disrespect, harsh words or criticism. We can do better than that!
What if we took time to sit together, have a conversation, and get to know why someone feels the way that they do?
When you’re surrounded by people who are struggling, how can we meet them in the middle?
I hold fast to the truth of Jesus. I know that I don’t always get it right, but I know that He does.
There’s a wonderful truth in the Bible from Galatians 5:22-23 which says, ” The Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.”
Just think how things would change if we learned to use this as the model for posting on social media? How would it change for people you don’t agree with? How would it change the way that we treat the hurting, the marginalized, the brokenhearted?
“I am right” can be a pretty selfish statement. I’ve learned that simply listening and having a discussion can change perspective on things. But, it takes 2 ears and 1 open heart.
The holidays are coming. So are the differing opinions. How will you welcome them to your table? How will you meet them in the middle? How will you show love?

I have a chair for you at my table.
Love well. Go make a difference. Always run by faith!
