I recently was in Traverse City, Michigan for the Bayshore Half Marathon. A beautiful 13.1 mile race. The day was wonderful and filled with wine tasting, pizza and laughs.

Then, it happened again.

That feeling of, “Ugh! I just had it. Where did it go?” It was just in your hand, and within moments, it is missing!

Sometimes, it is big enough that you know that you’ll eventually spot it with your eyes. Other times, not so much. You’re on your hands and knees. You look under the couch and turn over blankets. You check your pockets for the upteenth time. Nothing!

Over the weekend, on a cool night, we all gathered around a campfire. There were about 9 chairs total in the circle. Some were the ‘cheaper’ upright chairs, while others were those cool recliners.

The next morning, as we cleaned up and put the chairs in their storage bags, we noticed something. One of the “lug nuts” was missing. Of course, it happened to be one of the very important nuts that holds the chair together.

We searched in each pocket, and looked all over the ground. Yep, we even searched IN the fire pit. (which had cooled down) Nothing. We found nothing.

So, I dared to do it. “Lets just say a quick prayer and ask God for help.” It was a quick prayer, “Lord, you know exactly where that lug nut is. Please help us find this thing. In Jesus name, Amen.” That was it.

After about 10 minutes, while the sun was giving us come extra lighting, I noticed something silver on the ground. There, in the midst of the grass, was the lug nut. It wasn’t sitting on top of the grass, it had been smashed into the ground. A little clean-up, and it was good to go.

I said, “Thanks, Lord”, and then walked it over to the owner of the chair. Oh the power of prayer. I dare you to try it!

Pray first. Act second. Go make a difference. Always run by faith!
